The basics

What is Ego authority in Human Design?

People with Ego authority tend to decide well by checking two blunt things: does the heart truly want this, and is there something real in it for them. Honest self-interest is the compass here, not a flaw. A genuine yes usually comes with a felt surge of will to follow through.

Practicing starts with small promises. Someone might commit only to things they can say out loud with full conviction — a workout, a deadline, a favor — and notice how the body backs a real commitment with steady drive, while a half-hearted one runs out of fuel fast.

The trap is agreeing out of politeness or image, then over-promising. When the heart is not in it, willpower quietly withdraws and the commitment stalls. Saying no early tends to protect both the promise and the relationship.

In practice

How does a Ego authority show up in daily life?

Before taking on a client, someone asks whether they actually want the work and whether the pay feels fair; the inner drive shows up only when both answers are yes.
